Book it!

Please return books when finished!

While searching for something totally unrelated, I stumbled upon these images of well, you decide. The perfect or not perfect bookshelf?

Wow, is all I had to say when I saw this thing of beauty. Becareful where you walk, and pleeeeze do not rearrange the furniture in the evening. You may bump into some heavy reading material!

From the Showtime Metropolitan Home special of Showcase Homes this is from : " Californication".
The look is sleek contemporary, a fresh feel but older vintage touches as well. The typewriter on the sleek lined desk, horn chair in the corner next to the double chaise lounger chair, high back blue chair is incredible as is the ghostly Louis chair. The same blue accent color is also repeated on the ceiling of this room. A furnished living space with a playful side.

My main reason for posting is in the right hand corner of this room.

Note the chain length lamp, ticking striped pillow and the metallic copper garden stool set in front of this tall enourmous stack of vintage books! All arranged by color, these books are fab! What a great alternative to the bookshelf, stacks of books or a cabinet with closed doors.

As you can see, there are many volumes of books, colors and sizes. Mostly the spines are vintage looking. I think this is such a creative way to stack a pile of reading material. Just make sure that the one book that needs to be returned & reshelved is not at the bottom of the stack!

I like the neutral space as color as well as texture is injected into this room. An otherwise traditionally furnished space with classic walls, trim and flooring; it is the little surprises of seating, artwork and texture that brings this room into technicolor status!

No doubt Corine, probably best with books that are no longer in your readable library!

This stack would be perfect in the home of a librarian, wouldn't it? Very creative. Thanks for finding it.

I must admit that stack of books certainly gives that room an air of "get smart" - I quite like witty piles of books.
