Peaceful Decor

PEACE

This is the location of Namo Buddah, a hiking route leads to this place of worship.

I am intrigued and enticed by the color, sights and the design of this holy place. The design of the fabrics, walls and the colors are intoxicating.

Do you love the color and design too?
On a recent trip, I was so immersed in the culture and design of the Orient. The culture, color and lifestyle has so much to do with the look of homes, temples and designed spaces. Even a bit can be taken gold gilding, red walls or stenciled motifs and used in home decor and design of many different styles.

This is a different religious icon, but I completed it a while ago.
The design inspiration was Native American. Our local museum had a holiday exhibit featuring Santa Fe historical decor. This was my interpretation; purchased by a client.

The kiln dried wooden large cross is layered with smaller crosses. The hand painted wooden rosary beads hold a smaller cross. In the center is a turquoise encrusted & red beaded crucifix.

It has found a place of rest on a wonderful French carved door. The cross was the first of what have become many comissioned pieces. The old and layered look I just love. Also, keeping the colors muted and neutral in color; with a punch of turquoise and red ( Santa Fe color scheme ).

Totally off your blog topic but I enjoyed my return visit. I was in Tulsa on Christmas eve and day and enjoyed watching a city with lots of snow but no shovels. It made for one of our more interesting holidays, especially coming from Canada. We were lucky the restaurant stayed open for Christmas dinner. Enjoy your blog style and you sent me over to another Canadian blog which I enjoyed as well. Good luck on the giveaway.
