 The Win

Last evening, before that stars came out and before the sun set, I watched the prime time special on bull fighting. I had never seen one before and did not know what it entailed. After watching the entire episode it struck me that Spain's cultural battle was this struggle of the presentation, the fight and in the end, the win.

The very detailed and colorful costumes of the matador enhance the viewing for the spectators while the struggle for the bull or the matador will end in victory or defeat for one participant. If you are rooting for the matador then his fluid and closely applauded dance is intoxicating. If you are rooting for the bull, though not as rare, they have been known to be victorious in the ring.

Regardless of the outcome, it seemed random yet closely tied to the preparation, presentation, struggle and outcome for the win of the ultimate in the entertainment industry's struggle for the actor / actress to accomplish the ultimate prize ......

The Oscar.

A dance to the finish, with the collossal flair from the matador, inches from the massive muscle of the Spanish bull.

The interior of a Spanish library with it's multi  colored wooden furniture, handscraped wooden floors, opulent upholstered sofa and chairs. The glimmer of gold, the burst of color in the art, and the crinkle of the raw silk drapery panels against the zebra hide chair and black marble fireplace surround. Much like the Spanish matador, this library flashes it's colors.

Kathryn Bigelow, making history at the Oscars with her rendition of "The Hurt Locker".
Saw this a couple of weeks ago, a great sleeper film. Set in the not so pretty side of the world, in the middle of the desert. Proving that life is not always pretty, but sends a message that is becoming ever so day to day in the lives of men and women serving overseas.

A coastal beach feel of this living room with sandy texture, blue and white touches as well as coastal feel of the interior. A mix of color, pattern, texture and feel of the layered look with uncomplicated style and feel.

Sandra Bullock's win for her role in The Blind Side. I also saw this one, another look into a not so perfect life of a wayward boy who finds his way to a family that offers him a chance for a better life. In the world of interiors this film has great shots of Leigh Anne Tuohy's house.

The first thing that came to mind for me was this dressing room for Katie Lee Joel. Finished out in 14 carat gold leaf and ever as shining as Ms. Bullock. A little indulgent yet as sleek and sophisticated as Sandra, and I am sure a constant changing of looks and wardrobe additions.

"Whatever the battle, there is always sacrifice and struggle, without it there would be no reason to fight"

Be Victorious!
