Do you get enough?
Almost every evening you are gulity of this. Maybe some people get more than others? Some skip this all together for one reason or another. If you have not gotten what you need or require, the world can be more challenging getting thru your day. Do you need less or more space? How about letting the light in or retreating into the darkness? Of course I am referring to your nightly "beauty sleep" and how you do it.
Bedrooms are as varied as the people who sleep in them. I wanted to share a few beds and some bedrooms of past, present and future. One thing is for sure, if you are not getting enough sleep it will show! I have included some famous bedrooms, some not so comfy looking bedrooms and of course some pretty unbelievable retreats! I do think the bedroom is a place of retreat, solice and definately slumber.
Enjoy some of the extrordinary ways people have shut down, after a long and sometimes difficult day.
The ever famous bedroom of Marie Antoinette. Notice the turquoise color? Huummm....2010 color of the year. I am also liking the pattern and hand painted headboard. Who says design trands do not repeat?
Antoinette inspired bed from the UK from The Sleep Room.
Daybed from Marie Antoinette bedroom.
Silvery clouded mirrors are part of this century old bedroom and chic in todays cutting edge styling. Gold leafing and detailed moldings are incredibly classic design elements.
Miles Redd inspired bedroom from this past year.
Pattern on pattern with bold color use and cool pure hue's.

Pinks and greens, color combination in this circa 80's bedroom.I am having flashes of The Birds movie.
Circa 1962 Jackie Onassis Kennedy's bedroom
French elements, pattern (Bennison)?, and wainscotting panels.
If you closed your eyes you could envision this room today. Good style is so timeless.
Same bedroom in Jackie O's sitting area from 1962 Architectural Digest shoot.

Napoleon's bedroom in magenta silks, taffetas and prints. The bedroom as it was when purchased recently for the bed furniture. Touches of gold, and a pop of turquoise color too.
Diane Keaton's Californian home. The master bedroom continues the Santa Fe style throughout the home. For the right price, you can actually have this home as it is on the market today. Like the dreamcatcher, but where is the nightstand and alarm clock?

A lighter version and clean white palatte.

The bedroom of Ms. Newsom (wisteria founder). A 2009 version of the bedroom. A little more simplified and neutral in colors.
The bedroom of John Lennon.. A number of Beatles tunes were written in this very bedroom.
This French headboard is a fovorite of mine. A UK inspired bed frame.
Though simple in style this bedroom is big on color and design. A great way to personalize your retreat is custom children's artwork. This image is from a Cottage Living story. A more modern twist on pink and green.
Charlotte Moss Louis XVI Niermann Weeks four poster bed.
A bed befitting the stature for a princess or queen (royal or not).
The great bed - of - ware. A blueprint for the modernized four poster bed.

I love this girls bedroom with it's neutral colors and the round tufted pink ottoman.
The exact Ritz hotel room where Princess Diana spent her last night, before her tragic death in Paris.
Louis, Louis,..... how I love this bed!
I also love this "M" image for a monogram for this bedroom.
Image unknown.
Nancy Corzine bedroom. I feel a little bit of Something's gotta give meets Tiffany & Co;

I read once that Jackie O required a new set of clean and ironed sheets every night.
Thats interesting Donna. I started this post researching beds and it grew into the post. I also read some interesting things about people, their bedrooms and what they require for sleep.
Interesting information.

wow! this was a treat for the eyes! I appreciate all the time this must of taken you to put together! Marie Antoinette's ghost mirror behind the bed is MAGNIFICENT. And the reagans room: if you remove the pink carpet, it looks like today's rooms. Great selections!

I thought the same thing. What is funny is how so many elements are just tweeked into todays decor.
I was starting with an idea and it sort of morphed into this post. I even learned along the way.
