Mum
A female who has borne offspring; female parent. A female who adopts a child, or who otherwise holds a maternal relationship toward another. The characteristics regarded as belonging to a mother. Anything that creates, nurtures, or protects something else. A title given to nuns of certain rank; espescially to the head of a female religious community. In Christian Science, the divine and eternal principle; God.
I was looking the meaning of mum or mother up in the Standard College Dictionary circa 1930
I realized that there are many forms of mum's out there. Any number of meanings too.
In our day and time it has become apparent to me that the meaning of mum is vast, blended and far from any basic definition. When I think of caregivers, nurturers, and protectors I see so many different types and genders. So; to define a mum or mom today's definition I think is a varied term not really defined by gender, marital status or even biological capability. I would like to wish all the nurturing mum's out there, the protective single fathers, the hardworking single mum's, aunts & uncles, godparents, the retired grandparents pitching in and raising grandchildren, the mum's who care endlessly for their adopted children, and those mum's of four legged babies are loved and cared for in some instances better than human babies. My opinion has changed over the years and the definition of a mum has changed too. A tireless, day in & day out, non paying and surely the most overworked and least acknowledged job in the world.
I wish all mum's a wonderful "Mothers Day".
Enjoy one day with your "family" you have earned it!

What a cute picture of your brood. My youngest boy is the twin of yours. There is nothing better than that smile.
Dana;
That is so funny. You know they say that you do have a twin somewhere in the world.
Hope your mothers day was great!
