Bedside table

To the right or to the left?

The Boudoir

The lady's private bedroom, or man's private bedroom. The term derives from the French word bouder, meaning to "pout",......

A place for bathing and dressing, primarily adjacent to her / his bedchamber. As periods have passed, trends evolved the boudoir has come to be known for the style of the bedroom that traditionally has been either ornate or busy. Though began with Renaissance and French rooted rooms, todays boudoir can be as varied as country cottage, whitewashed beachy, heavy iron, and sleek modern.

Which brings us to the right or the left side of the boudoir bed. What are bedside tables holding these days?
What is a bedside table made of, from, or being reused as?

Here are a few fav's.......

A French inspired bedroom and furnishings from Alkemie

Though this side table is simple, black and on a pedestal, the painted headboard is anything but simple. What an alternative to wallpaper. I could even see a more truer tonal type of painting for this type treatment.Living etc. source of the pic.

In this for sale Houston home, Joni Webb of Cote de Texas pictured a simple and understated bedside table duo. Clean, simple and topped by glass, great for morning coffee or late night tea.

This luxurious bedroom from Living etc shows how a pop of color is all you need to update and modernize a more muted color palate.Living Etc. source, also a fan of the faux painting in the background and wall treatments.

This romantic bedroom also takes a black and white approach to the bed side table or drum?LE picture.

This more shabby chic type bedroom is a dynamic duo and well placed to mirror each side of the bed.

This bedroom from ED, what an intersting and low type of a nightstand.

Lisa Epley designed little girls boudoir.

Max & Company bedroom. Masculine and elegant all at the same time. Lots of texture, pattern and lit nightstands to te left and to the right.

Another Max & Company bedroom. Very symmetrical, but I love the order and crispness of the room. Also the fun figure on the bedside table.

So, what is on your nightstand?

Do you keep a more orderly and clear bedside table? Is a less is more type of table in your frame of relaxation or do you think a more more is more approach is the one for you?
Although, not mine, I am bravely showing what is on mine. Though clean and orderly, it is also full of personality, organization and color.

The oversized dresser was a wedding gift from a dear, much missed aunt. Pottery Barn organizer keeps earrings, bracelets and smalls orderly. To the right is a side lamp, like the one from Amanda's California hallway table in The Holiday.

More cubbies and sections for the jewelry smalls. A bit of Burberry and some French handcream in a shea butter scent. To the far corner is the dog spritzer for Derby when he is smelling a bit too outdoorsy and wants to jump on the bed.

The pulls were finds from France with boquets of fleurs which I traded for more rounded knobs. Of course the eyeglasses are for viewing the tele, a clock for time check, and the cross is an adaptation from Mary Emmerling. Crosses, necklaces and all sorts of jewelry for the neck are twisted over the standing rustic cross.

Flanking the dresser is a caned settee from Horchow, piled with a soon to be different cushion. I am contemplating a fresh new coat of light gray paint and just the right amount of chippiness.
The floral pillow is a recent ABC Carpet purchase from NYC. In the background is a tri paneles mirror with antiqued mirrored back. Preferably used in a vanity table but paired with this dresser.

Some other treasures, limoges dog box, my trusty Kate Spade spectacles, and I am real fragrance in a stick roll on form. Bone picture foldable frames, horn cuffed bracelet and beaded turquoise bracelet.
Yes, lots to dust but the organization is key too. This open concept does keep me organized.

Maybe not for everyone, of course the one thing that is missing is the remote;  it is one the other side, you know!

Isn't it great? I think it could even look cool in a bathroom or kids room too. I saw this a while back, and then lost the image. While searching for something else, I found it again.
Have a great day,
L.

Leslie your bedside dresser is beautiful with all your organized treasures and lovelies. I love your style. All the 'boudoir's' just got more gorgeous than the next. So many great examples. Our bedside tables are spare (easier to dust?!). They are old John Widdicomb tables & I have a basket for each on their bottom shelf to hide all those bit's & bobs. Such a great post Leslie. Hope you are doing really well & enjoying the last days of Spring?!
