Sick design

Sick .....

A relatively new term for cool and wow furnishings and decorative styles.
Some things featured below that might relate to sick designing. By the way, a lot of termanology with the Sixx design group on sick design. I am officially hooked on their style and show.

May / June 2008 New England Magazine

Riddling racks from Sixx design. These I have seen from modern to French design and decor. I think they are fun and very rich in feel and texture.

The street before Sixx design transformations. Older neighborhood, an old gun shops streach of property without a bight future. One block from Little Italy and two blocks from Soho and Chinatown. Amazing how a little interest, moolah and creative drive cannot only transform lives but transform a neighborhood.

The street after the Sixx design transformation. This street has children playing on the sidewalks now, and it is a place with neighbors talking and walking the streets. Isn't this type of styling and selling the best type of transforming? Whether you like the style or not, I do like the good they are doing for NYC and what clean and fresh approach to design and lifestyle living. NY daily news reference.

A pic from the book with a large photo wallpaper of Tupac. Note the colorsplash in the chairs and the great lucite chairs? Can't you feel the heartbeat in this room?

The graphics in this floor are amazing. I was at Home Depot yesterday, not looking for tile but have you noticed how much tile is available in the mainstream of stores like Home Depot? I wandered down many an aisle to see the new features and what the big orange box was featuring these days.

I like the style of this kitchen table, it is a clean look paired with a metal topped table with patina and age.
I am wondering if the movie running with scissors was in their minds? The same type of long table in the middle of the kitchen, this one seems to be a little more chic in style.

Though I am not willing to release my French obsession anytime soon I think there could be a relationship between the French and the American mix to live in peace and harmony in my little place. There is a part of aged and worn that has to co exist with clean and polished, I think for me that is the right stuff.

Since we are posting today on sick design. I have to add this article from the NY Times, an 178 foot square foot apartment that was sickly transformed into a posh pad.

A young designer Zach Motl, came to New York and redecorated his apartment. The funny thing is that this was before he knew he wanted to design. All 178 feet of it!

A job at an upscale design and architecture firm was hiring and without any credentials in the field he applied. There were over three years experience asked by the ad and required for the interview. Mr. Motl did not have any of those requirements, but went to the interview with a portfolio of pictures of his apartment. You know, sometimes the passion in a persons heart will outweigh their resume.

By the way, he got the job.
