Trim with ribbons.....

Year round trimmings....

Collecting the ribbons to adorn packages is half the fun of the gift giving celebrations.
Here are a few things you can use when trimming the packages and even tying up a wreath or
wrapping a up your shopping finds.

The top of my box for holiday gift giving and wrapping.
I try to collect various ribbons and adornments throughout the year. I also like to keep the colors non traditional and light and airy when putting together a combination for gift giving. I have also found that you can spend a lot on ribbons and paper, and you cannot spend a lot on ribbons and paper. The end result can be just as wonderful no matter what the budget is for wrapping up your holiday goodies.

This plastic wrapped ribbon is from the local oriental market.
The array of colors is like a rainbow. I chose red to use on candy cane striped paper. A great way to add a different texture to a gift. The entire spool of ribbon was .99

A bundle of red & white bakers twine from Crate & Barrel is just the right weight for small gifts and tiny wrappings, clear envelopes and wrapping handmade gift cards is another great way to use this light weight ribbon (twine). Under $ 8.00

This year  bagged a large baggie of this vintage millinery trim and ribbon at a local estate sale.
The faded pinks and ivories are perfect for the shabby gift wrapped box, bag or card on your list.
The entire bag was .50.....

A little sheer glitz is just the ticket for these sheer ribbon with french wired edges trimmed in silver glitter. The silver wired trim with tiny fuchsia pom poms is a great way to layer the glitz on a package or tag. These ribbons were picked up throughout the year, around $2.00 per spool.

Another flea market find were these tiny vintage tins with solid and clear glass lids. To stow away a tiny but precious gift for that special someone. The size is also perfect to hold a Benjamin or two.
Trim it with a great perdoit green wired ribbon.

Tulle is not just for ballerina skirts anymore.
This ribbon comes in lots of sizes and widths in every color imaginable. I prefer colors that go with my holiday decor and house color, but it is not just white anymore.

A little more of the pom pom bling and a smaller transparent white wired ribbon with a metallic fuchsia curling ribbon for a shot of color and texture. Use a pair of scissors to curl and add to the wrapping, around $ 2.00
for the entire spool of metallic ribbon.

These chocolate and Hermes orange organza ribbons can be paired with strips of this hand tooled faux leather material cut into widths for ribbon use. These were scooped up at the neighborhood dollar store. You do not have to spend a lot to get a great look. When picking these up, a few people asked why the orange and brown? Thanksgiving is over??? I replied that I use colors in addition to red and green. They had not ever thought about different non traditional colors, what a new world and endless possibilities.

A brocaded wired french edge ribbon with gold inner color was a splurge, but the leopard print wired translucent ribbon was a steal at half off........
I had a little extra zebra hide strip that was wrapped around a perdoit green package.

Lastly, this candy striped ribbon was purchased last year after the holidays at .50 per spool at Michael's. I am not even going to tell you what it's original price was....... The glittery wide tulle was also a closeout from the wedding section and floral section of another craft store.

A few samples of crocodile imprinted paper, brown craft paper, tins and silver crocodile embossed papers with ribbons.
 All in a days work!

A sprig or two of jute and a pretty plaid ribbon is also an inexpensive way to trim your packages.

Don't forget to add a sprig of evergreen if you want a natural touch!
