Goodnight moon

Green with envy

Last week, I finished up a project that started out as an unlikely candidate for reconstructive surgery.
Although she did have good bones, her features were brittle and broken.
Nothing a few nails, wood glue and putty could not reform or reshape!

Here she is before in all her golden oak glory:

Her legs and her back had seen bettah days but there was an interesting carving and a turned top or two that were the only redeemable qualities about her.

If she had the opportunity to change, she might just be good looking!

Her feet were not bad either, and so with a firm and prepped foundation we began the transformation.
A little green and a little coverage was shaping up quite nicely.

Besides, it wasn't like she was going to be alone her whole life. She was part of a set, a family heirloom that needed a new lease on life. So, as her accompanying chest was painted as well we moved forward and her drawers got a fresh new color too!

A little age, rubbed into the cracks and randomly placed upon her new base coat.
A little glaze and a little antiquity achieved in a few days.

The ol gal is already moving into the new era and will provide a great new room for another generation of Goodnight Moon stories and many sleepovers.

In the different light, a new lease on life and a new owner is on its way.
A great piece can be transformed into a great looking and sustainable heirloom. If the bones are there, one has only to repair what time has taken and breathe a little life into an otherwise dull piece of furniture.

A detail of one of the carvings on the lower foot board of the legs of the bed frame.

A nice soft shade of green and highlighted with a wash of antiquity.

A little detail of her drawers.

The inspiration from Pottery Barn teen.

The homeowner saw this pic and we replicated it for her daughters bedroom.

I will post a pic when she is in place with all her lovely bedding and pretty looking accessories!
