Sunday pondering

Change

It is as if I have been disconnected from the rest of the world this past week. Me and my little family were celebrating our last Spring Break trip with all four of us when all my children would be in lower educational institutions.
While I pondered change within our little family unit, there was so much change going on around me.

News of the difficult plight of the people of Japan echoed in my own heart as I was literally watching my own family move forward. You could not help but hear of more tragedy each morning as our crew would awaken, and hit the slopes for the day. And with each day, it became apparent that this was going to be a different and changed group after this week. I was enjoying the long drive home with visions of my children being lucky enough to enjoy such a week.As we drove past every mile marker it was apparent that the miles of childhood for my eldest were also being left behind. A new road lies ahead, one that will definitely be blazed and plotted forward in a new and interesting fashion. The same is said of my son, who is closing into the last months of adolescent fun and games, the remaining time before summer and another chapter unfolds in the fall.
One of my children is moving forward, and one is holding onto middle school, yet each road will be a new and winding one, I am counting on that!

I pondered in my own thoughts, where did the time go?

It was not long ago that our biggest decision was nursery school and what to pack for lunch?

Now we are discussing college campus's, middleschool finales, and the summer schedule.

And so, as if unpacking was not enough of a challenge, yesterday the entire United States entered into another change. One that is unfolding with every click of the television.
It is a change that for some may be liberating, for others there is fear with that same freedom and a quiet reserve in the hearts of Americans who wonder......What next?

And even in the midst of all this change there is the promise of a new. Green grass for those of us westerners, the promise of budding limbs and pushing up of tired rested plantings.
That which seemed so large before my trip and became so low on my list as we entered our home and settled into our own little piece of the world.

A huge change in our own space and a lot of anticipation within our own walls.

One thing is sure, Change will come if we are not ready for it, we will adjust and eventually the change we come to know will in fact embrace us. Is it unjust to compare such worldly and understandable issues, but in able to put perspective into play, our own plights make change an everyday acceptable task?

In this acceptance, we do become changed.

You're wrong. It is right to compare the macro to the micro.

Watch the Russian film, Burnt By The Sun, story of Stalin told thru the story of 1 family. The point is made, via art, to share horror.

Thanks Tara.
That is very comforting......
I must see that film!
It is hard to throw it out there, but I am glad to know you concur.
I guess it is the macro - micro connection that keeps everything in check!

Thanks for the comment,
