When I was a little girl and May Day made it's way around the calendar, my sister and I would make bouquets for our neighbors. Nothing fancy, but just snippets of my mothers roses and blooms from her garden. We would construct them, tie with a gorgeous ribbon and place them on the front steps. Then, before we turned and dashed home, we would ring the doorbell. The unsuspecting neighbor would open the door to a simple surprise that (hopefully) brightened their day.
Not a lot of that these days, but there are neighborhoods trying and many with established neighborhood groups that look out for one another and keep a watchful eye on one another.
It is not easy but it is such a great feeling to know who your neighbors are and how they are doing.
Here's my May Day bouquet to each and every one of you!
Happy May Day.

Always remember doing that little thing, many elderly neighbors and widows in my neighborhood as a child.Hopefully brightened their day.
