25 Years
Around the time frame the original Macallisters have occupied the sprawling Georgian Colonial which came to life in 1990 in the film,Home Alone.
The home is located in Winnetka, Illinois and listed for 2.4 million.
Though the decor had changed a bit from hunter green and burgundy of the nineties trend, it has been home to this family for 25 years and can be your own home away from home.
Who could forget this house and little Kevin who was banned to the attic and missed his flight to Paris?
Well, if you want to see all the rooms go here:
Remember the awful pizza and night before the big day in the kitchen?
It has brightened up and long are the darker cabinets in the film.
Another look into the kitchen with the dark cabinets, patterned wallpaper and the tiled floor.
The famous staircase where everyone frantically ran upstairs to get dressed and out the door.
Also, the sledding down the stairs in the film.
The film version with heavy wallpaper and jewel toned colors.
The dining room with a chinoiserie style of wall covering.
The dining room from the film.More richly colored walls and oils with a stately rug.
The Home Alone Living room.
The living room in the film, decked to the halls in reds and greens.
The look into the living room from the dining room and a bit of the entryway.
A side note is when the film was being made it would have been impossible to sled down the stairs and out the front door. The wall to the right would have been in the way.
What a exact curve this would have been, a skilled sledder to take this hill!
The master bedroom today. Clean and bright.
Humm, wrong side for the bath and a fireplace here.
Of course different decor and color scheme.
Many scenes from the film were built in a near by school gymnasium and filmed on that sound stage.
Not any pics of a tree house or the unfinished basement which apparently is still unfinished.
Interestingly, the film itself did make an estimated $ 533 million internationally, and was named the Guinness Book of World Records,"Highest grossed box office comedy film.
The home was recently accessed and is on the market again for $2.4 M.
Just goes to show you even the movie houses change with the time and decor does go forward.

One of my favorite films. The house was a classic and the changes though light and modern still fit with the house.
A classic look at life in the 90's.
Thanks for stopping by Sarah..
One of my all time favorite films. I must get this and no.2 on DVD....
Not in the old collection yet, but will be shortly.
Just thought the for sale status of this legendary house was interestingly worth posting about!
Well, maybe there will be a new home for some family.
