Demilune
Demilune refers to the top of a piece of furniture - usually a small table or commode.
The shape of a semi circle or half - moon (the words demi lune translate to half - moon in French).
Probably developed in France in the 1750's and has remained a design element of popularity ever since it's origin. Many of the key characteristics of Louis XVI and Neoclassical design elements and details.
Many a girl has come home and placed her purse or briefcase on the hundred year old demi lune Hepplewhite table which resides in the entry hall facing the front door entrance.

The before.......
A typical picked up cherry wood demilune table in it's raw state.
Many of these reside in our homes and entry halls, this one was picked up with the intention of re purposing and was not a priceless heirloom or antique.

Now she is almost ready to step out and go on the town!
The great thing is she can live in the city, townhouse, suburbs or even fit into a more country lifestyle.
What a transformation!
Now, where's my place in the entry hall or little nook in the Le Bain?

Me too! It was a silver overlay to accent the more architectural features of the piece. It really goes well with the project I am working on.
